Billy Strings proves a bluegrass band playing Depression era music can fill an arena: Billy Strings, born William Apostol, performed two sets over the course of three hours Saturday. He covered Led Zeppelin with banjos and fiddles. He played Ralph Stanley and some Grateful Dead-adjacent tunes. He revived traditional mountain songs and Prohibition protest numbers.

100+ Burt Marshall properties head toward a bankruptcy auction that may reshape Hamilton: More than 100 properties owned by failed businessman Burt Marshall in the Hamilton area have been thrown up for grabs in an expected bankruptcy court auction. The sale would pay part of the more than $90 million that Marshall owes to nearly 1,000 people who invested in his “8% promissory note” fund that the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Trustee’s office said had “all the hallmarks of a Ponzi scheme.”

Tortured Syracuse man faces his abusers in court: ‘I forgive you, but God won’t’: A 26-year-old Syracuse man who was kidnapped and tortured over several days spoke publicly for the first time about the trauma he suffered at the hands of two women. “I forgive you, but God won’t,” Koddie Beechner said Friday in court as he read a letter to the people who hurt him. Jessica Hughes, 36, and Renee Dolson, 40, were sentenced for their roles in the kidnapping and torture of Beechner.

What’s Syracuse getting in Kyle McCord? A veteran at a position of need and prolific passer: McCord, who on Sunday committed to transfer to Syracuse football with one year of eligibility remaining, checks off one of the most-needed items on the Orange’s wishlist this December: a starting QB for 2024. SU needed to get a quarterback in place before the end of the week, when its season will be officially over and any players, particularly offensive ones, who might have been waiting to get through the bowl game to make a decision on whether to stay at Syracuse.

Syracuse’s subs propel Orange from 10-point deficit to 20-point win over Oregon: ‘Our bench was huge’: Four SU reserves would turn the game around. They each made key contributions as Syracuse erased Oregon’s double-digit lead and wound up winning in an 83-63 romp. Syracuse’s bench wound up scoring 44 points, more than the Orange starters’ 39. It was the most bench points for Syracuse since 55 in a 99-77 win over Boston U. on Dec. 10, 2016.
