Watertown, N.Y. — In Jefferson County 29,000 National Grid customers are without power and the sheriff has issued a travel advisory after a storm.

Another 9,000 are without power in neighboring St. Lawrence County.

The county has the most people without power in the entire state. The outages come after a storm brought high winds throughout the state.

In the village of Dexter in Jefferson County winds reached 79 mph. Category 1 hurricane wind speeds start at 74 mph.

National Grid does not have an estimated time of restoration for power in Jefferson County.

Many roads are covered in debris including tree limbs, according to a press release from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Multiple roads are closed, deputies said.

The sheriff issued a travel advisory. If residents must travel expect hazards on the roads and delays, deputies said.
