Syracuse, N.Y. — Former Syracuse football linebacker Mekhi Mason is transferring to Louisiana Tech, he announced via social media Monday.
Mason spent two seasons with the Orange and has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
After appearing in seven games mostly on special teams in 2022, Mason played just one game his sophomore season. He played 50 total snaps across both seasons, according to Pro Football Focus.
The Florida native had been a three star out of high school per the 247Sports Composite. He was not rated in the transfer portal.
Louisiana Tech, which competes in Conference USA, finished 3-9 last season.
Syracuse has lost 20 players to the portal this offseason. Eleven have now found new homes with Mason’s commitment to LA Tech.
The Orange has added one linebacker through the portal — West Virginia’s James Heard Jr. — and two in the class of 2024.
