A Central New York teenager is making his film debut after beating out hundreds of others for the role of a lifetime.

Rueby Wood, a 15-year-old actor from Oswego County, stars in the new Disney+ movie musical “Better Nate Than Ever” as Nate Foster, a kid from Pittsburgh who dreams of becoming a big Broadway star. Despite getting cast as a tree in the chorus of his middle school musical, Nate believes he is destined for more and makes a daring trip with his best friend Libby (Aria Brooks) to New York City to audition for the fictional “Lilo and Stitch: The Musical” — without their parents’ knowledge.
