Whether it’s wearing a Buffalo mask, chicken wing hat, a lucky jersey or slamming someone through a table, the Bills Mafia will do whatever it takes to bring the Buffalo Bills good luck.
Just how superstitious are Bills fans? A recent study by Casino.org found that Buffalo ranked No. 9 among the five major sports leagues. Ranking ahead of the Bills in the NFL were fans of the Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears, Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.
So, the Bills Mafia may not be the most superstitious, but they are a little stitious as Michael Scott would say.
According to the study, the most popular pre-game sports rituals fans practice to bring luck and success to their favorite teams included wearing a certain color, wearing a specific piece of clothing, watching the game in a specific place and eating the same meal.
The study was conducted in July of 2023 with Casino.org surveying over 3,000 U.S. and Canadian sports fans about their pre-game rituals and participants. The people surveyed were asked a series of questions to discover which fan bases and professional sports leagues were the most superstitious.
