Chevy Chase is returning to Central New York for a screening of his beloved holiday film “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.”
Chase will appear live on stage at The Stanley Theatre in Utica on Dec. 13. The event will start at 7:30 p.m. with a showing of the 1989 movie, followed by an audience Q&A with Chase.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 29, at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster and the theater’s box office. Prices start at $37.50.
A limited number of VIP tickets that include a meet-and-greet with Chase are also available. VIP ticket holders will be required to wear a mask at all times and may be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test, according to a press release. All VIP ticket holders will be emailed with final details at least two weeks prior to the event.
The Stanley Theatre said in August it would require all attendees to show proof of vaccination with the NYS Excelsior app or an official Covid vaccine card in order to enter the venue without a mask. If patrons can’t provide proof or are unvaccinated, they must wear mask at all times when inside the Stanley.
Chase is a 78-year-old actor who was an original cast member on “Saturday Night Live.” His credits include “Caddyshack,” “Fletch,” “Three Amigos,” “Community,” and the Syracuse-set “Snow Day.”
He previously came to Syracuse in 2019 for a 30th anniversary screening of “Christmas Vacation.” Chase stars in the John Hughes-penned film as Clark Griswold, a married father of two whose plans for a big family holiday celebration turn into disaster with memorable scenes involving Christmas lights, sledding, gift shopping, a squirrel, and a visit from Cousin Eddie.
Chase’s 2021 tour dates include stops in Albany on Dec. 15 and in Binghamton on Dec. 19.
