Syracuse, N.Y. — A federal appeals court has restored part of a woman’s lawsuit that accused Syracuse University of violating Title IX rules while dealing with a top athlete’s violent behavior toward her.

The woman, a member of the university’s lacrosse team, originally filed her lawsuit in August 2021. It focuses on the university’s handling of a case against lacrosse star Chase Scanlan, with whom she was in an on-again-off-again relationship that turned abusive.
