Drunk driver goes through red light in Syracuse, crashes into other car, killing passenger, police say

Syracuse, N.Y. — A 59-year-old woman was killed early Saturday when the vehicle she was in was struck by another car driven by a drunk driver, police said.

The drunk driver went through a red light and her vehicle crashed into the other car at about 2:21 a.m. at North Salina and Catawba streets, said Lt. Matthew Malinowski, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Police Department.

The woman killed was a passenger in the vehicle struck by the drunk driver, Malinowski said.
