The Syracuse University administration was criticized by professors and students for suppressing pro-Palestinian discussions and creating an unsafe environment on campus during a panel on academic freedom Thursday.

Provost Gretchen Ritter faced opposition to the university’s decision to cancel an educational event on the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, condemning statements made by pro-Palestine protesters and suppressing professors’ academic freedom.
