Geddes, N.Y. – More than 900,000 people attended the New York State Fair this year, which ended its 13-day run on a hot and humid Labor Day.
Fair officials tonight reported the total attendance was 932,699. But this year’s attendance still falls short to pre-pandemic attendance levels.
In the five years preceding 2020, more than 1 million people attended annually. From 2015-2019, average annual attendance was 1,159,105.
The Fair broke total attendance records each year since 2016 until 2020, when the fair was cancelled because of Covid. In 2019, the record breaking attendance was about 1.33 million attendees.
Today’s muggy weather may have played a factor in the day’s attendance, with a total of 72,529 people crossing the state fair gates. That’s over 20,000 less people than the height of attendance over the weekend.
But the state Fair attendance is on the rise, with attendance exceeding last year’s total by over 50,000 fairgoers and surpassing 2021 attendance by 134,604 people.
