Buffalo Sabres fans come from both sides of the Niagara River, but for years Sabres fans in Southern Ontario have been out of luck if they want to watch games that air on MSG Networks. But that’s changing thanks to a new partnership between the team and fuboTV.
Announced last week, fuboTV and the Sabres are partnering to expand MSG Network coverage 50 miles into the Niagara region of Southern Ontario, including Canadian Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Lincoln, Grimsby and more towns. Sabres fans can even use a special link for a limited time to get an extended 14-day free trial of fuboTV (Canada link | USA link).
The multiyear partnership will bring Buffalo Sabres games on MSG Networks — the regional broadcast affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres — to viewers in the Southern Ontario market for the first time since 2016. That represents more than 40 Sabres games per year that were previously broadcast only in the United States.
This coverage expansion is limited exclusively to Sabres games broadcast in-market on MSG Networks, and does not include full access to MSG Networks in Southern Ontario. It does, however, include pre- and post-game coverage of Sabres hockey including but not limited to pre-game breakdowns, highlights, exclusive interviews and studio analysis via the newly launched Fubo Sports Niagara channel.
“Our organization remains committed to broadening the Buffalo Sabres’ presence and connecting with fans on a deeper level, and expanding our reach to allow more Sabres fans in Southern Ontario to stream games exclusively with Fubo is a fantastic step in more deeply connecting with our fanbase,” Buffalo Sabres General Manager, Kevyn Adams, said in a statement.
The Sabres are 10-13-2 to start the 2023-24 NHL Season following three straight losses, but they did manage a critical 5-1 win over the division-leading New York Rangers on November 27.
