High school roundup: Camden skier picks up two wins in 1st alpine event of season

Camden’s Billy Bernabe had a pair of first-place finishes in Section III’s first alpine skiing event of the season Monday at McCauley Mountain in Old Forge.

Picking up wins on the girls side were Grace Heath of Old Forge and Claire Friedel of Holland Patent

The next bext race is at 2 p.m. Friday at Woods Valley.

Faith Heritage 59, Cincinnatus 42

Landon Bregou scored 20 points and the Saints pulled away in the second half.

Faith Heritage, ranked No. 6 in Class D in last week’s state poll, led by just seven points at halftime.

Canden Stafford led Cincinnatus with 26 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Faith Heritage (12-2) hosts Manlius Pebble Hill on Wednesday. Cincinnatus (5-9) entertains Madison on Friday.

Syracuse Academy of Science 78, Henninger 57

Andre Pasha had 20 points, 18 rebounds, seven assists and blocks to help the Atoms to their fourth consecutive win.

Pasha has at least 17 points and 12 rebounds in every game this season.

Syracuse Academy of Science (9-3) travels to CBA on Friday. Henninger (1-13) hosts Central Square on Tuesday.

Girls basketball

Westhill 47, Nottingham 37

Senior Rosie Mahoney scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds -- both career-high totals -- for Westhill.

Mahoney came into the game averaging 3.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game. Kara Rosenberger added 14 points and seven rebounds for Westhill.

Justyce Moore had 14 points for Nottingham.

Westhill (8-5) heads to Syracuse West and Nottingham (1-10) travels to Jamesville-DeWitt on Thursday.

Skaneateles 59, Jordan-Elbridge 50

Allie Michel had 18 points -- just one away from her career high -- to help the Lakers to a win.

Skaneateles lost to the Eagles by three points in a game on Dec. 3.

Makayla Penird led Jordan-Elbridge with 12 points.

Skaneateles (6-6) hosts Cazenovia on Wednesday. Jordan-Elbridge (9-4), which had won five games in a row, entertains state-ranked Phoenix on Wednesday.

Boys ice hockey

Skaneateles 5, Oswego 0

The Lakers picked up their eighth shutout win in 15 games.

Goalie Danny Angelina, who has been in net for seven of those shutouts, made 18 saves on Monday. His save percentage improved to an impressive .951.

Skaneateles (14-1) travels to Syracuse on Thursday. Oswego (9-6) heads to Auburn on Wednesday.

Boys bowling

West Genesee 7, Oswego 0

Lorelai Leskoske rolled a 622 series and helped the Wildcats to their fourth win of the season.

It’s the first time West Genesee has won four matches in a season since 2019-20.

Leskoske, a junior, has knocked down at least 200 pins in 15 consecutive games. Her average this season is 202.

Oswego (3-10) hosts Baldwinsville on Thursday. West Genesee (4-7) is on the road against Auburn on Wednesday.
