Syracuse, N.Y. — Christmas tree collection in Syracuse will begin late next week, city officials said.

The public works department will collect natural trees across four separate weekends, based on address:

  • Jan. 6 and 7, northeast: North of Erie Boulevard East, and east of North Salina and Butternut streets
  • Jan. 13 and 14, southeast: South of Erie Boulevard East, and east of South Salina Street
  • Jan. 20 and 21, southwest: South of West Onondaga Street, and west of South Salina Street
  • Jan. 27 and 28, northwest: North of West Onondaga Street, and west of North Salina and Butternut streets

Before placing trees at the curb, anything on it should be removed. Natural wreaths, garlands and swags will not be accepted, since they contain metal.

Trees can also be dropped off with the Onondaga County Resource Recovery Agency at two locations — 4370 State Route 91 in Jamesville, and 6296 Airport Road in Camillus. Both sites will accept trees Jan. 2-12 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
