Before losing two games in a row at the end of their regular season, Coastal Carolina had won five straight games, and guaranteed its bowl eligibility. But the Chanticleers wrapped their season with a 56-14 blowout loss to James Madison, and now are looking to end the season on a high note.
San Jose State is on a red hot rebound streak ahead of the bowl game. The Spartans opened 1-5 in a shaky start to the season, but have won six straight games on the back half of the year, including their 37-31 win over UNLV to end the season. Running back Kairee Robinson rushed for 165 yards, 16 carries and two touchdowns in the win.
These two teams are meeting for the first time, and making their first appearances at this particular bowl. For the Chanticleers, it’s their fourth-ever bowl appearance, while San Jose State is making its 13th.
