The Syracuse men’s basketball team makes their debut at the 2023 Maui Invitational in Hawaii, where they square off with the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers at SimpliFi Arena in Honolulu on Monday, November 20 (11/20/2023) at 2:30 p.m. ET.

Syracuse snapped its upset losing streak against Colgate with their 79-75 win on Tuesday. The Orange came back from a 24-point deficit in the second half, and Sophomore guard Chris Bell scored a career-best 25 points to pace Syracuse, while Judah Mintz added another 23. The Orange improved to 3-0 for the season with the win.
Now Syracuse squares off with its first AP Top 25 opponent for the season, and will have to contend with the mountain of experience on the Vols’ side of the court under Rick Barnes. Barnes is in his ninth season in Knoxville, and has 782 career coaching wins under his belt, even bringing the Volunteers to the Sweet 16 last season. Tennessee is also 3-0 after an 82-61 win over Wofford last week.
The last time these teams squared off was in 2002, when Tennessee won 66-62. They split the all-time series 3-3.
