Camillus, N.Y. -- A married couple sleeping in their Camillus home Tuesday both died after an early morning fire, police said.

The couple killed was Anthony W. Johnson, 77, and Constance L. Johnson, 71, Camillus Police Chief Michael Schreyer said Wednesday.

Constance Johnson died in the fire.

Anthony Johnson was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died as a result of his injuries, Schreyer said.

Just before 4 a.m., a neighbor called to report the fire in the home at 201 Mansfield Drive. Firefighters and police responded to the fire call around 3:57 a.m., according to the Onondaga County 911 Center.

Schreyer said the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
