Syracuse, N.Y. — A jury awarded $7 million last week to the husband and estate of a DeWitt woman who faced complications after leg surgery.

The state Supreme Court jury on Friday found Dr. Scott Bradley, who formerly practiced at Upstate Community Hospital, was negligent in treating Geraldine Pace when he was her attending physician during rehabilitation from surgery to her left leg.

Pace had a nail and rod placed in her left leg in 2014 after fracturing it, and needed another operation several weeks later after another fracture. She later died in November 2020 at the age of 77 for unrelated reasons. The lawsuit was filed in 2015.
