Man found dead in a ditch along road in town of Onondaga

Onondaga, N.Y. -- A man was found dead Friday in a ditch along a road in the town of Onondaga, deputies said today.

Around 1 p.m. Friday, deputies received a report of a man found in a ditch along the 4000 block of Bussey Road, according to a news release from the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. The cause of the man’s death is unknown at this time, they said.

A bike was found with the man, according to Tom Newton, a sheriff’s office spokesperson. The age of the man is not confirmed but he appears to be between 60 and 70 years old, Newton said.

The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office is trying to identify the man, confirm his age and determine his cause of death, deputies said.

Deputies are asking anyone with information regarding the man’s death to contact the sheriff’s office at (315) 435-3081.
