Syracuse, N.Y. -- A man who police say broke into his ex-girlfriend’s Syracuse home, attacked her and set a sweatshirt on fire early Sunday morning is now wanted by the police.

Around 5:37 a.m., officers responded to 544 Valley Drive for a report of a domestic incident with injuries, said Lt. Matthew Malinowski, a spokesperson for Syracuse police.

A woman living in an apartment there said she was sleeping when she awoke to her ex-boyfriend — Andre Kearse, 21 — punching her in the head, Malinowski said. The woman told police Kearse had broken into her apartment and that she had an order of protection against him.
