Syracuse, N.Y. -- A Syracuse man accused of acting as the “main aggressor” in a brutal kidnapping and assault of a mentally disabled man was ordered Thursday to undergo a mental competency exam.

Tashawn Adams, 22, is charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree assault and first-degree robbery in an indictment that named five other people, three of whom have pleaded guilty.
