Syracuse, N.Y. -- Brexialee Torres Ortiz didn’t have to go the corner market to get milk the night she was gunned down, but she went because the 11-year-old girl just wanted dinner to be ready when her mother came home from work.

Brenlee Ortiz, Brexialee’s mom, said Tuesday that she carries so much guilt because she already had the milk in her car.
