Syracuse, N.Y. -- Scott DeForest made a low-key debut as the interim head coach of the Jamesville-DeWitt girls basketball team on Friday.

He took his Red Rams to Liverpool for a scrimmage, allowing everyone to get in some holiday break work. That typified his overall message to the team in the wake of former coach Keith Cieplicki’s abrupt resignation last week: remain focused and stay the course.
