New state boys basketball poll: 2 Section III teams join the rankings

Syracuse, N.Y. — The new New York State Sportswriters Association boys basketball poll has been released and 21 teams from Section III are ranked.

After being left out of the last three polls, Rome Free Academy finds itself ranked in Class AAA again. The Balck Knights make an appearance at No. 30 this week.

In AA, Nottingham is ranked for the first time. The Bulldogs are No. 25 in AA in the latest poll. Syracuse Academy has fallen out of the rankings in AA and is now honorable mention.

Marcellus is still the highest-ranked team from Section III at No. 1 in Class B.

Here’s where Section III schools stand this week (records as of Sunday):

Class AAA

13. Cicero-North Syracuse 9-1 (LW: 16)

22. Liverpool 8-2 (Last week: 26)

30. Rome Free Academy 8-2 (LW: HM)
