New state girls basketball poll: Section III team makes 1st appearance in state rankings

Bishop Ludden has entered the girls basketball state rankings after winning six games in a row.

Syracuse, N.Y. — One Section III girls basketball team made its first appearance in the New York State Sportswriters Association poll this week.

Bishop Ludden earned a No. 17 ranking in Class AAA after winning its last six straight games.

In total, 18 teams from Section III are ranked. Nine of those teams are ranked in the top 10. West Canada Valley from Class C is the highest-ranked team at No. 3.

Class AAA’s Cicero-North Syracuse and Class A’s Westhill fell out of the state rankings this week.
