Update: As of about 10:45 a.m., Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh arrived at the scene.

Syracuse, N.Y. -- A woman was reportedly shot in the head while she was standing on the sidewalk near the Rescue Mission in Syracuse.

According to dispatch reports, the woman was shot near 121 Dickerson St. and fell to the ground. The man who shot her fled with a gun. The shooting happened around 9:35 a.m.

The man was quickly apprehended and is currently in police custody, according to dispatch reports.
