Syracuse, N.Y. — Richard Thibodeau, who was acquitted in the 1994 kidnapping of Heidi Allen even as his brother was convicted based on the same facts, died Tuesday. He was 77.

For decades, Richard Thibodeau maintained he and his brother, Gary, were innocent of kidnapping the 18-year-old convenience store cashier in New Haven, Oswego County.
