Syracuse, N.Y. – Downtown Syracuse’s newest high-end apartments offer views of Clinton and Hanover squares from a historic former bank building.
The Treasury at 101 S. Salina St. will boast 119 studio and one- and two-bedroom apartments in a building that served for 123 years as one of the city’s most prominent bank offices.
The units on the top three floors of the 10-story building are completed, and tenants began moving in on Feb. 1.
A long list of features and amenities come with the apartments: quartz countertops, tile backsplashes, stainless steel appliances, high ceilings, oversized windows, in-unit washers and dryers, a dog washing station, a bike storage room, a fitness center and a roof deck.
Thanks to the 10-story building’s design — it’s actually three conjoined buildings — there are 35 different layouts to the apartments.
Rents range from $1,500 to $2,800 and include heat and access to the fitness center and roof deck. Parking in the building’s attached garage is $100 a month extra.
Built in 1897 for the Onondaga County Savings Bank, the building served as OnBank’s home until being acquired by M&T Bank in 1998. M&T sold the building in 2020 to Douglas Development, of Washington, D.C., and moved to 250 S. Clinton St.
The company, which is owned by developer Douglas Jemal, immediately undertook a $16 million transformation of the building’s upper floors into apartments.
Jemal is also turning the building’s former bank lobby, which features murals depicting Syracuse’s early history, into an event space (think weddings and galas) called Palladian Hall. Leasing agent Conor Madden, of Greystar, said work on that space is expected to be completed this summer.
