Help is on the way with the Buffalo Bills looking to clinch a playoff berth as early as this weekend.

In his Friday appearance on WGR-550, head coach Sean McDermott revealed that defensive tackle DaQuan Jones would be up for Sunday’s matchup against the New England Patriots.

“He’ll be up for the game,” McDermott said on The Extra Point Show. “It looks like he’s heading in a good direction.”

The move was anticipated after the Bills released veteran offensive tackle Germain Ifedi on Thursday afternoon to get their roster down to 52 players. To make the move official, Buffalo will have to activate Jones from the injured reserve.

Jones was a force for the Bills in the team’s first four games of the season. He registered 2.5 sacks, three tackles for loss and five quarterback hits during that span of time. In Buffalo’s fifth game, a home matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, Jones suffered a torn pectoral.

Jones’ return comes at a time where the Bills have the playoffs in their sights. The team currently sits at 9-6 and can clinch a playoff spot this week with a win over the Patriots and some outside help. With two regular season games left to ramp up, Jones could play a significant factor in a playoff run if Buffalo makes the postseason.
