Renters in Ithaca are paying a bigger share of their income toward their rent than any other metro area in New York, according to a new ranking.

Renters in Ithaca spend 36% of their household income on the gross median rent in the market, according to the ranking from Stacker and Belong, a property management company. The list uses census data to rank New York metros by where people are spending the biggest shares of their income on rent.
