‘Starsky & Hutch’ star David Soul dies at 80
“Starsky & Hutch” star David Soul is dead at age 80. His wife, Helen Snell, announced Friday that Soul died while surrounded by family. “He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend,” she said in a statement. “His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched.” Soul was best known for playing blond detective Ken “Hutch” Hutchinson opposite Paul Michael Glaser as David Starsky on the ABC series that ran from 1975 to 1979. Soul’s credits also included “Jerry Springer - The Opera,” “Magnum Force,” “Here Comes the Brides,” “Salem’s Lot,” “The Yellow Rose,” and the 2004 “Starsky & Hutch” movie reboot (starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson), plus a singing career with songs like “Don’t Give Up On Us.”
