Syracuse, N.Y. – SUNY hospitals may ease up on suing patients over unpaid medical bills in the wake of a recent report that revealed Upstate University Hospital sues patients more aggressively than most other hospitals in the state.

SUNY’s new chancellor said the public hospitals are working with the state Attorney General’s office, which files the medical debt lawsuits on their behalf, to explore ways to avoid taking patients to court.
