To the Editor:

Headline from this Thursday’s Post-Standard: “Syracuse ranks second in U.S. child poverty.” How does that fact stack up against Onondaga County’s plan to build an $85 million aquarium at Syracuse’s Inner Harbor?

Syracuse could use some help in reducing child poverty and there are ways to do this — but it usually involves money. Must be that Syracuse is not part of Onondaga County. Wonder how many visits to the aquarium from people below the poverty line can be expected.

This county’s priorities are very disappointing.
