Syracuse lawmakers OK moving police, fire headquarters: Syracuse’s police and fire departments will be moving out of downtown to new headquarters on the city’s west side. The Syracuse Common Council on Monday unanimously approved Mayor Ben Walsh’s proposal to lease a privately owned vacant factory that the owner will convert into the city’s new public safety building.

54-year-old man shot in foot in Syracuse, police say: A 54-year-old man was shot in the foot overnight, according to Syracuse police. The man was taken to Upstate University Hospital by private vehicle after the shooting, according to Lt. Matt Malinowski, a spokesperson for the Syracuse police. Officers responded to the hospital to investigate.

Pregnant woman who was shot in head is declared brain dead: A 26-year-old pregnant woman who was shot in the head Friday morning near downtown Syracuse has been declared brain dead, according to District Attorney William Fitzpatrick. Apreona Harris, of Syracuse, was outside of the Rescue Mission campus when she was shot on Dickerson Street, Fitzpatrick said. On Monday, Harris was declared brain dead as a result of the injuries she sustained in the shooting. The baby was delivered and is doing well, Senior Assistant District Attorney Joseph Coolican said.

Union authorizes possible strike at Anheuser-Busch plants, including CNY brewery: The union representing more than 5,000 workers at the 12 breweries operated by Anheuser-Busch InBev in the United States — including 373 at the Radisson Business Park off Route 31 just outside Baldwinsville — has signaled that its members are prepared to go on strike. The Baldwinsville brewery makes about 75 different beverages, totaling around 6 million barrels per year.

Shrader has surgery, won’t play in bowl game: Syracuse football veteran quarterback Garrett Shrader is facing a six-month recovery timeline after having shoulder surgery, and is planning to pursue an NFL career, he told syracuse.com. The program announced Monday morning that Shrader will not play in the Boca Raton Bowl due to the successful surgery, which repaired an injury he suffered in October. Shrader spoke briefly about the timing of his surgery, his injury-ridden college career and his plans for the future.
