Syracuse, N.Y. — A Syracuse man was sentenced to six and a half years in prison Friday for having illegal guns and drugs as well as a bulletproof vest he claimed was for fashion.

Police raided the home of James Bolds, 36, on Collingwood Avenue on Oct. 13, 2022, where they found 27 grams of cocaine, a loaded gun, 67 rounds of ammunition and a bulletproof vest, according to court documents filed in the Northern District of New York.

The gun, ammo and vest were illegal for him to have because he is a felon, prosecutors said. He previously served time for robbery and assault. He had the cocaine and intended to sell it, prosecutors said.
