Syracuse, N.Y. — A Syracuse man was sentenced to eight years in prison Friday after police found cocaine in his cereal box, prosecutors said.

On Nov 8, 2022, Rodney Sumlin, 37, had 108 grams or 0.2 of a pound of cocaine in a cereal box on top of his fridge at 418 Hiawatha Blvd East, prosecutors said in court documents filed in the Northern District of New York court. The cocaine was found during a search warrant, prosecutors said.

Sumlin also had a gun illegally stashed under his mattress, prosecutors said. It was illegal for him to have the gun because of previous convictions, prosecutors said.
