Syracuse has one of the highest child poverty rates in the U.S. among larger cities, according to new census estimates released Thursday.

The city’s child poverty rate of 45.8% was the second-highest in the U.S. among 336 places with at least 100,000 people, according to the new numbers, which cover a five-year period from 2018 to 2022.
