Dyaisha Fair had 22 points and Georgia Woolley added 20 as the Syracuse women’s basketball team improved to 16-2 with a 72-59 road win over the Pittsburgh Panthers at the Petersen Events Center on Sunday.
It’s the fifth straight win for the Orange, off to its best start since the 2012-13 season. Second-year head coach Felisha Legette-Jack and her squad are 6-1 in the ACC, SU’s best start since joining the ACC.
Fair is now tied with Ashley Joens of Iowa State for 10th place on the NCAA Division I career scoring list.
It was the fourth 20-point game of the season for Woolley, while Alaina Rice added 13 points and four steals. Saniaa Wilson had her best rebounding performance of the season, pulling down 12 boards while adding nine points.
The Panthers led early, until an 11-0 run put the Orange in front in the second quarter. Fair had 12 points in that quarter, hitting four of severn three-point attempts.
Pittsburgh was led by Liatu King who had a game-high 27 points, shooting 12-for-19 from the field. Jala Jordan and Bella Perkins also scored in double figures for the 6-13 (0-6 ACC) Panthers.
Syracuse remains on the road to face Notre Dame on Thursday in South Bend, Indiana. Tip-off is 8 p.m.
