Fifth-year guard Dyaisha Fair led Syracuse with a season-high 31 points in the 79-73 victory over No. 15 Florida State on Thursday. In the process, Fair set a new program mark from the 3-point line (9), and added to her ever-growing points tally, passing USC’s Cheryl Miller, Tennessee’s Chamique Holdsclaw and Connecticut’s Maya Moore on the NCAA’s career Division I scoring records. All of that just four days after clearing the 3,000-point benchmark.
Syracuse improved to 15-2 and 5-1 in the ACC, but the win was far from a solo effort. The Orange overcame an 18-point deficit for the win — their second largest of the season — and had strong rebounding to thank, in part. Kyra Wood, Alyssa Latham and Sophie Burrows all grabbed at least five boards during the game.
Now Syracuse squares off with the Panthers, who are 6-12 and 0-5 in the ACC following an 84-71 overtime loss to Boston College one week ago.
