Skaters can return to the ice at Clinton Square in downtown Syracuse.
The city of Syracuse announced that the popular outdoor rink next to the massive municipal Christmas Tree is reopening at 4 p.m. Thursday after being closed for nearly a week.
The rink temporarily shut down at the end of last week because of a mechanical problem, and the ice had been empty since. With repairs now made, the facility will be open until 8 p.m. Thursday. The following special holiday hours are planned:
- Christmas Eve: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Christmas Day: Closed
- New Year’s Eve: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- New Year’s Day: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Regular public skating hours, which continue until March 1, are as follows:
- Monday-Thursday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Friday: 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
- Sunday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- School vacations: 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Skaters can join Santa Claus on the ice Saturday, Dec. 23, and the rink’s Clinton the Penguin mascot on Sunday, Dec. 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
