Glenn Middleton, 69, of Syracuse, died on December 25.
According to his obituary, he was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1954. His family moved to Syracuse in 1969 where he attended St. Lucy’s Academy.
He starred on the school’s championship basketball team with his brother Rudy. According to The Post-Standard’s archives, he won the 1974 “Olympian Award” for hoops.
Middleton later attended and graduated from Oswego State and Syracuse University.
A master painter and general contractor, he started his own painting and construction business in Ithaca and then expanded it in Syracuse.
Middleton planned and managed “construction projects from conception to completion” and taught the home improvement trade to many over the years.
He lived throughout the United States, including Atlanta and Thomasville, Georgia, San Diego, California, and Phoenix, Arizona.
“Somehow he always managed to find his way back to Syracuse,” his obituary said. “Syracuse was home.”
He is survived by his mother, Lucy Mae Crane, his children Pattron Middleton (Saraha) and Natasha Washington, both of Syracuse, as well as his 9 grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27 at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 West Genesee Street, Syracuse. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 2 p.m.
