Orleans, N.Y. — A New York State Police patrol car was totaled after a tractor trailer crashed into it Monday afternoon on Interstate 81 near the Canadian border, police said.

A trooper responded around 2 p.m. to a disabled vehicle in the median of southbound Interstate 81 near Exit 49 in rural Jefferson County, according to Trooper Jack Keller, a State Police spokesperson. She parked her patrol car on the shoulder of the highway, Keller said.
