Oneida Indian Nation set to roll out its legal marijuana business, in a really big way: The Verona Collective is now likely the largest recreational marijuana business in New York State. The operation, run by the Oneida Indian Nation, is already growing, harvesting and processing marijuana at a location near the Turning Stone Resort Casino. The next big step comes on Jan. 3: That’s when the Oneidas will open their first retail marijuana shop, or dispensary, to the public.

The donation drop-off centers have been at Syracuse-area Wegmans locations for 38 years, a Rescue Mission official said, and receive about 250,000 donations each year. Syracuse basketball holds off Cornell’s challenge: The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team led by as many as 14 points in the second half, but couldn’t shake Cornell and had a few anxious moments before holding off the Big Red 81-70 Tuesday night at the JMA Wireless Dome.

SU’s new football coach gets deep during his introduction: “It just comes out real”: New Syracuse football coach Fran Brown spoke the quiet parts out loud during his first press conference at SU. Over and over. He expects to lose his expensive defensive coordinator after three seasons. Part of the allure of the Syracuse job is the salary. He wants to retire from coaching early and take care of his family. “I’m gonna be a little different than everybody else because I’m going to kind of speak from my heart,” Brown said. “I always speak from my heart, and it just comes out real.”
