Minnesota is looking to salvage a difficult end to the regular season, having lost their past four consecutive games, including a 28-14 loss to Wisconsin in their last game of the year. The Golden Gophers are 5-7 overall, and only became bowl eligible because there were not enough six-win teams this season.
Bowling Green (7-5) will bring some players with impressive national rankings to the bowl game, including TE Harold Fannin — seventh at his position nationally with 573 yards — and cornerbacks Jalen Huskey and Jordan Oladokun, who are tied at 16th nationally with four interceptions. The Falcons wrapped their season with a 34-10 win over Western Michigan.
Bowling Green is making its second consecutive appearance at the Quick Lane Bowl, after losing 24-19 to New Mexico State in 2022. Minnesota is playing its third Quick Lane Bowl in the past 10 years, and is hoping for a seventh consecutive bowl win. Last year they beat the Syracuse Orange 28-20 at the Pinstripe Bowl.
