The Syracuse Orange Football Team opened its 2023 season last weekend on the heels of a major College Football broadcasting shakeup between ESPN and Spectrum, leaving many fans scrambling to figure out how to watch the season-opening game.
To make matters more confusing, the game was broadcast exclusively on ACC Network Extra, a.k.a. ACCNX, which is a streaming-only “channel” exclusive to ESPN.com and ESPN apps — but it still requires a cable subscription or live TV streaming subscription to access.
This will not be the last time a game is broadcast on ACC Network Extra this season, and ACCNX is also a regular home for other Syracuse Orange sports, including basketball and lacrosse. With that in mind, we’ve put together this guide explaining exactly what you need to do to access games on ACC Network Extra this season.

How do I get ACC Network Extra?
If your cable TV or internet TV package includes the ACC Network channel, you already have access to ACC Network Extra. Check your channel listings: Verizon Fios, Xfinity, Optimum/Altice, Cox, DirecTV.
NOTE: Due to an ongoing dispute with Spectrum, Disney-owned sports channels such as ESPN, ACC Network and ACCNX are currently excluded from the cable service.
If you don’t have cable TV, you can get ACC Network (which includes ACCNX access) through a variety of live TV streaming services, including fuboTV (free trial), Sling (half off first month), DirecTV Stream (free trial), Hulu + Live TV and YouTube TV.
Does it cost anything?
There is no additional cost for ACCNX if you already have ACC Network. However, ACC Network is typically included on more premium cable or live streaming packages. For example, if you want ACC Network with Sling, you’d need the Sports Extra package, which costs an additional $11 per month.
I have ACC Network. Now how do I find the game on ACC Network Extra?
If you’re watching on a web browser, head to ESPN.com/watch. Click “Browse” in the menu bar, scroll down to “Channels,” then look for ACCNX and click it. Then, look for your game and click to enjoy. When prompted to log in with your cable or live TV streaming service credentials, do so.
If you’re watching on an ESPN app, select “Watch” from your home screen, scroll down to “Channels” and look for ACCNX. Select the game, and be prepared to log in with your cable or live streaming service provider.
Which Syracuse Football games are on ACC Network Extra?
Unfortunately, a full season TV schedule is not available, as channel lineups are typically not announced until a week or two before the game.
Syracuse’s upcoming game against Western Michigan on Saturday, September 9, is set for ACC Network Extra, and it is probable that other games will be on the channel this season. A full season schedule can be found here.
I’m a Spectrum customer. Can I still access ACCNX?
No. As of right now, Spectrum customers that try to use their cable credentials to login on ESPN.com will be denied access.
Spectrum customers can sign up for free trials of live TV services such as fuboTV (free trial) or DirecTV Stream (free trial) to enjoy the games until the Spectrum-Disney dispute is resolved.
Is there any other way to watch the games?
Some games that appear on ACC Network Extra are also available to stream on ESPN Plus. That service costs $9.99 per month, and it included the season opener and will include the upcoming game against Western Michigan.
It is important to note that not every game on ACCNX is also on ESPN Plus. The service does, however, carry a huge lineup of college football each week.
