The Doobie Brothers are returning to Upstate New York in 2024.
The Doobies announced new tour dates Monday, including a Tuesday, Aug. 13, concert at the Broadview Stage at SPAC in Saratoga Springs. Steve Winwood will open the show at 7 p.m.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. through Live Nation. Fans may also want to check resellers like VividSeats, StubHub, TicketNetwork or SeatGeek for tickets.
The Doobie Brothers are once again touring with founding members Michael McDonald, Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons and John McFee. McDonald reunited with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group for a 50th anniversary tour in 2021, playing hits like “What a Fool Believes,” “China Grove,” “Listen to the Music,” “Takin’ It to the Streets” and “Black Water.”
“A lot of people will be like, ‘Oh god you want to be out, die on the road?’ Well, why not? It’s as good as going anywhere else,” Simmons told syracuse.com with a laugh in 2022.
“The dream of getting up there and rockin’ onstage, that was all kind of what we idealized as kids, and here we are, as old guys, still living it,” he added. “And probably we’ll go down living it, because that’s what we are.”
Winwood will be the opening act for the Saratoga Performing Arts Center concert, while Robert Cray will join the Doobies in other cities. Winwood, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Traffic, is known for solo hits like “Higher Love” and “Roll with It.”
